Skin health is a key concern for women!

For at least 30 years, television commercials have been boring you with the “miraculous” action of creams containing antioxidants and their effects on skin health, on the dermis, epidermis and many other qualities. Tissues rich in collagen and other structural proteins, however, require a lot of attention with a regular intake of protective micronutrients. Naturally, anti-wrinkle creams are of interest to most women who want to counteract the effects of cellular aging of the skin, and of the face in particular. If the effects of certain antioxidants such as Coenzyme Q10 are indeed recognized, would they not also be effective when taken orally? What does science say on this subject? This is what we will see in this article...

Antioxidants protect the skin with great effectiveness

Most moisturizers contain vitamin C and vitamin E for their anti-free radical effects. Scientifically, this makes sense, but it's still important to know how well a skincare cream penetrates the skin. However, creams are tested in laboratories, as well as on a certain number of users and volunteers. Cosmetic testing phases are particularly long and costly for skincare brands and creators. However, it's important to know that some antioxidants have greater protective and neutralizing potential than vitamin C. This is the case, for example, with OPCs extracted from grape seeds or pine.

Oligoproanthocyanidins have an antioxidant potential 20 to 50 times higher than vitamin C. However, including OPCs from grape or pine in a cream is not necessarily simple. Miscibility, texture, odor, allergic skin reactions… Many sensitivity factors must be considered to avoid incompatibility with the skin. In this case, skincare creams have their limits. Obviously, a fatty substance will always be much easier to mix into a cosmetic cream than a granular and more molecularly complex substance. Is it therefore not possible to take advantage of the properties of OPCs extracted from grape seeds?

Nutraceuticals or nutracosmetics are food supplements targeted at skin health

Your skin and other tissues benefit from the nutritional benefits of many antioxidant molecules in ways other than moisturizer. Oral nutritional supplements are perfectly effective, even when it comes to the skin, dermis, and epidermis. In this case, certain dietary supplements have been formulated to meet specific needs. We call them nutraceuticals but also nutracosmetics. These names therefore recall the specific interest of these supplements. Their formulation meets a very specific objective, in this case skin health. From there, YAM Nutrition developed its first nutraceuticals with Skin Nutritive and Lipolys. The first aims to target skin health, the second focuses on the issue of cellulite.

Skin Nutritive provides you with antioxidants in the form of Coenzyme Q10, OPCs extracted from grapes and vitamin C in the form of calcium ascorbate. Here, the calcium ascorbate is intended to stimulate the assimilation of the collagen present in this formula. Indeed, vitamin C is an essential cofactor in collagen synthesis. Thus, each daily serving provides you with 3000 mg of Collinstant ® collagen, a form of collagen under patent filed by the German manufacturer Viscofan. As for OPCs, these antioxidants also have the properties of binding to collagen by contributing to the structural integrity of connective tissues. Their antioxidant capacities contribute to these effects, but oligo-proanthocyanidins also have the effect of blocking the synthesis of certain free radicals that can trigger allergic and inflammatory reactions.

Today, we know that OPCs effectively combat skin aging. They stimulate blood microcirculation in the skin's capillaries, thus promoting optimal oxygenation of the skin. Nutrient intake is improved, with better hydration. Today, nothing is simpler than combining a nutracosmetic like Skin Nutritive with your favorite moisturizer and seeing the effects after several weeks. The key will always be to provide your tissues with the nutrients they need to maintain good health.

Lipolys from YAM Nutrition brings you a complex of targeted antioxidants against cellulite

After Skin Nutritive, YAM Nutrition decided to develop Lipolys, a formula based on several antioxidants. The specific antioxidant complex developed for Lipolys provides you with hesperidin methylchalcone, oligo-proanthocyanidins or OPC for the reasons we just mentioned, as well as quercetin and Co Q10 or ubiquinone. Hesperidin methylchalcone is an antioxidant extracted from citrus fruits such as Citrus aurantium . Its vasculoprotective effects are documented by scientific research. This form of hesperidin is known to reduce the permeability of capillaries, which increases their resistance. By binding to the collagen of the blood vessel membrane, it contributes to their stability. Indirectly , hesperidin also protects blood vessels through its antioxidant properties.

Hesperidin stabilizes collagen

By neutralizing free radicals, hesperidin reduces the activity of certain enzymes such as elastase, an enzyme that degrades elastin. As you know, elastin is a structural protein like collagen. Hesperidin is also venotonic because it inhibits other enzymes that degrade catecholamines, such as adrenaline. Indeed, the role of adrenaline is important because it causes vasoconstriction. This constriction of the vessels is important for venous return. We have therefore adopted and worked on these principles with Lipolys .

Finally, we have associated the quercetin to the Lipolys formula. This antioxidant has the property of reducing the activity of certain immune cells that play a role in triggering allergic reactions. These cells are linked to inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Quercetin reinforces the action of the other antioxidants in Lipolys, forming a significant synergy of effects with ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10) and OPCs extracted from grapes.
